GOP Sen. Roger Wicker, the incoming chairman of the Senate Armed Services Committee, has announced that the panel will conduct a confirmation hearing for President-elect Donald Trump's defense secretary nominee, Pete Hegseth, on January 14.

A group of Democrats on the Senate Armed Services Committee has raised concerns about Hegseth's suitability for the position of defense secretary. In a letter led by Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren, the Democrats cited allegations of sexual assault and harassment against Hegseth as reasons for questioning his ability to serve as the next Secretary of Defense.
