Sen. Ted Cruz Calls For Secret Service Director's Resignation

Recently, Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, revealed that all 100 U.S. senators participated in a call with Secret Service and FBI officials to address the protocols in place following the attempted assassination of former President Trump. Cruz expressed his concerns about the briefing, stating that a significant portion of the call was spent on what he described as 'filibustering'.

During the 45-minute briefing, Cruz mentioned that the officials dedicated approximately 30 minutes to providing a detailed account of their actions on the day of the incident. He highlighted that the officials meticulously walked through various aspects of their response, including their activities in the field, on the stage, and backstage. However, Cruz pointed out that there was a glaring omission in their presentation – the failure to prevent an armed individual from shooting at the former president.

Expressing his dissatisfaction with the briefing, Cruz called for the resignation of U.S. Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle. He further urged President Biden to take immediate action by dismissing Cheatle from her position without delay.

The call between the senators and the law enforcement officials shed light on the ongoing discussions surrounding the security measures in place for high-profile individuals, particularly former presidents. The incident has sparked a renewed focus on the effectiveness of security protocols and the need for continuous evaluation and improvement.

As the investigation into the attempted assassination continues, lawmakers and officials are expected to engage in further dialogues to address any shortcomings in the security procedures and ensure the safety of current and former leaders.
