Senator Jeanne Shaheen, a prominent figure on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, expressed concerns about the relationship between President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin. She stated that Putin is manipulating Trump, highlighting the President's vulnerability in understanding this manipulation.
Shaheen described Putin as a 'murderous dictator' and emphasized the importance of projecting strength in dealing with him. She criticized Trump for not recognizing Putin's tactics and falling into his manipulative strategies.
Regarding the potential deal involving Ukraine's mineral resources, Shaheen cautiously welcomed any initiative that could strengthen Ukraine's position in negotiations. However, she raised concerns about the lack of details in the current framework and emphasized the need for thorough discussions.

Shaheen also criticized the United States' decision to vote against a United Nations resolution condemning Russia's actions in Ukraine. She expressed disappointment in the US aligning with countries like Russia, North Korea, and Sudan, which do not uphold democratic values. She called for a more principled stance from the US in supporting peaceful solutions and the international rules-based order.
In a call to action, Shaheen urged her Republican colleagues to publicly acknowledge their concerns about President Trump's actions. She emphasized the importance of bipartisan unity in holding the President accountable for his decisions.
