Sen. Fetterman Advises Democrats To Pick Battles Wisely

John Fetterman looks happy

Democratic Senator John Fetterman has offered some advice to his party members, urging them not to overreact every time President-elect Trump stirs up controversy. Fetterman emphasized the importance of choosing battles wisely and not allowing constant outrage to dilute the impact of legitimate concerns.

Fetterman expressed his intention to be selective in his responses, stating, 'If you really, really want to freak out, that’s your prerogative. For me, personally, I’m going to be picking my battles.' He cautioned against reacting impulsively to every issue, as it could lead to being tuned out by the public.

Regarding Trump's cabinet picks, Fetterman revealed that he is withholding judgment until Senate Republicans demonstrate unified support for the nominees. He acknowledged the political reality that nominees require sufficient backing before being brought to the Senate floor for confirmation.

When asked about Trump's success in Pennsylvania during the recent election, Fetterman highlighted the President-elect's ability to connect with voters in the state. He referenced a specific incident in Butler, Pennsylvania, where an assassination attempt was made against Trump. Fetterman noted that Trump's response to the threat, urging to 'fight, fight, fight,' resonated with many voters and generated momentum for his campaign.

Fetterman's measured approach to addressing Trump's actions and nominations reflects a strategic mindset aimed at maintaining credibility and impact within the political landscape. By advocating for a more discerning response strategy, Fetterman seeks to ensure that the Democratic Party remains focused on substantive issues and avoids being consumed by reactionary impulses.
