Democratic Sen. Chris Coons, co-chair of the Biden-Harris campaign, has emphasized the importance of allowing President Joe Biden time to consider his reelection campaign. Coons firmly believes that Biden is the most suitable candidate to defeat former President Donald Trump.

During a recent interview, Coons expressed his confidence in nominating the best candidate to challenge and overcome Trump at the upcoming Democratic National Convention in Chicago. He stated, 'For me, that’s Joe Biden. For some of my colleagues, they have different views.'

Despite facing significant pressure from various Democratic leaders and voters advocating for Biden to step down, Coons defended the President, highlighting Biden's remarkable record of success and his extensive 50-year career in public service. Coons stressed the importance of allowing Biden the opportunity to engage with trusted partners, leaders, and Democrats across the nation to chart a clear path forward for the American people.

Shortly after Coons' comments, Democratic Rep. Mike Quigley, who has publicly called for Biden to withdraw from the ticket, responded by acknowledging Coons' loyalty but expressed concerns about the impact on democracy. Quigley lamented the situation, stating, 'It is horribly sad. I would rather do anything else than work against a second Biden administration, but it can’t happen, it won’t happen.'

Quigley urged Biden to take the next few days to make a decision that would ultimately safeguard democracy for the nation.
