Sell off or shut down: TikTok faces US ban

US President Joe Biden has signed into law a bill that targets TikTok. The popular social media app's Chinese owner ByteDance has been given about nine months to either sell its business or face a ban in the United States. The company has vowed to take the battle to the courts. FRANCE 24's Tech Editor Peter O'Brien explains. 

Over in India, attention has turned to Kerala, which holds the largest number of seats in phase two of the ongoing parliamentary elections. The southern state has for years resisted the advance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Hindu nationalist party, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). In the last elections, the BJP didn't win a single seat there. This time, the party has doubled down on efforts to promote Kerala as "Modi's Own Country". Our correspondents report.
