‘Sell him!' — Manchester United fans fume at new Andreas Pereira transfer claim

Manchester United supporters have railed against the idea that Andreas Pereira could be returning to Old Trafford and given another chance.

The outcast is still on the club’s books despite not playing for them in almost two years. Since coming through the youth ranks, the Brazilian has been loaned out four times, most recently to Flamengo.

The South American outfit were on the verge of sealing a permanent £8.5m transfer for the player, but stalled on the move after club officials had second thoughts. Pereira produced a howler in November’s Copa Libertadores final, allowing Palmeiras to net the winning goal after a Steven Gerrard-like slip.

Those in the Brazilian club's boardroom lost confidence in the player and paused their pursuit. Now, journalist Fabrizio Romano has claimed that Pereira is set to return to United with Flamengo unwilling to trigger the option-to-buy clause.

This has not gone down well with many United fans, who have expressed their exasperation with the report. A number on Twitter called for him to be offloaded while others cringed at the thought of him being a part of Erik ten Hag’s plans next season.

@kabtastick: We can’t seem to escape the pre season Pirlo.

@George_LW5: I would honestly just sell him to Flamengo for whatever they're willing to pay. Otherwise we have to waste more time trying to find a potential buyer, or potentially even keep him in the squad.

@thealchemistroc: More deadwood struggle to shift.

@pvshroff10: I’m actually not watching us next season if Pre-season Pele is back.
