Selfless Ayrshire volunteers braved the cold to warm the hearts of elderly residents.
A caring community group in Prestwick took to the streets to spread festive cheer.
And neighbours did their bit by emptying their cupboards to provide donations to local sheltered housing organisations.
Around 80 bags full of donations were collected by the Marchburn group who toured the streets in sub zero temperatures.
Volunteers donned festive costumers, including a snowman, The Grinch and Santa – played by resident Jock Mackie - as they handed out selection boxes to children and their families.
In return families packed up bags of donations which were sent to two sheltered housing complexes – Lichtenfels Gardens Sheltered Housing and Ardfin House Sheltered Housing.
Bags full of essentials, including food and toiletries were made up and collected as the group made their way through the community.
Organiser Peter Raw told how the group, now in their third year, wanted to help vulnerable residents hit hard by the cost of living crisis.
Peter told Ayrshire Live: “We thought we would do things a bit differently this year.
“We spent the last two years helping out the South Ayrshire Foodbank.
“This year we put more of a focus on helping the elderly. They are the ones who have been hit hard by the cost of living crisis.”
The group took to the streets last Wednesday night as temperatures plummeted to -7 degrees.
But their efforts have already been appreciated by residents at the two sheltered housing complexes.
Peter added: “We managed to give around 35 to 40 bags of donations to each of our chosen sheltered housing complexes.
“We’ve had feedback and spoken to some of the residents – they are so grateful for what we have done.
“The community done us proud again.”
