A traveller has been slammed for his 'selfish' behaviour after booking an entire row of plane seats then cancelling all but one 45 minutes before take off so he could sit alone. The sightseer shared his hack on TikTok, describing it as a 'poor man's first class' as he explained he managed to get his money back for the spare flight seats.
The jet setter revealed his trick works 90% of the time and enables him to guarantee a whole row of seats to himself for the price of just one ticket, the Mirror reports. However, social media users were less than impressed with his actions and followers branded him a 'd******d' who clearly doesn't care for others or the environment.
The traveller, who shares advice on TikTok as @ndainternet, said: "This is called a 'poor man's first class', I bought one ticket for myself and then I bought two fully refundable tickets on this row. 45 minutes before my flight, I cancel my two fully refundable tickets and get 100 per cent of my money back.
"90 per cent of the time (the airline doesn't fill the seats), meaning I get this whole row to myself. There's no catch, just make sure the two additional tickets are fully refundable."
The controversial clip went viral and soon had over 90,000 views alongside a few disapproving comments. One user replied: "That's a d*****d move."
Another wrote: "Very selfish. Somebody may have needed these tickets." A third person remarked: "Never heard of fully refundable plane tickets."
Somebody else commented: "This could be so cruel to someone who missed their first flight". One viewer then cast doubt on his technique and questioned: "So I could book an entire plane and cancel every seat except one 45 minutes prior, and I would have a private plane?"
Another person asked: "What UK airlines does this? I've never heard of this."
