'Selfish' plane passenger booked whole row for himself - then cancelled tickets

A traveller has been branded 'selfish' after booking an entire row of seats so he could sit alone on a plane - then cancelling all but one of them 45 minutes before the flight.

The avid jet-setter shared his trick on Tiktok and described it as a 'poor man's first class', saying he managed to get all his money back for the spare seats.

This means he paid for just one ticket, yet managed to get a whole row of seats to himself - and he stressed to his fans that it works 90 per cent of the time.

But his travelling trick didn't go down well with others, as followers branded him a 'd******d' and said he clearly didn't care for others, or the environment.

TikTok user @ndainternet shared the trick with his fans online (@ndainternet/TikTok)
Some were unimpressed with his attitude (@ndainternet/TikTok)

The traveller, who shares advice on TikTok as @ndainternet, said: "This is called a 'poor man's first class', I bought one ticket for myself and then I bought two fully refundable tickets on this row.

"45 minutes before my flight, I cancel my two fully refundable tickets and get 100 per cent of my money back.

"90 per cent of the time (the airline doesn't fill the seats), meaning I get this whole row to myself.

"There's no catch, just make sure the two additional tickets are fully refundable."

The video went viral and soon had over 90,000 views, alongside a slew of comments.

One user said: "That's a d*****d move."

And another wrote: "Very selfish. Somebody may have needed these tickets."

A third viewer commented: "Never heard of fully refundable plane tickets."

"This could be so cruel to someone who missed their first flight," added another user.

But then one viewer doubted the technique, and asked: "So I could book an entire plane and cancel every seat except one 45 minutes prior, and I would have a private plane?"

And another added: "What UK airlines does this? I've never heard of this."
