Selena Gomez's sad response to viral TikTok claiming ex Justin Bieber 'preferred models'

Selena Gomez has responded to a viral TikTok video claiming she was "always skinny" while dating her ex Justin Bieber because he "preferred models".

The Ice Cream songstress, 30, commented a simple sad face on a clip claiming the "reason why" she kept fit during her romance with Justin.

They were dating from 2010 but eventually split in 2018, and during that time Selena was often snapped keeping fit and healthy.

TikTok page 'The Truth' shared a slurry of public paparazzi pictures in their now-viral video which has had more than 3.8million views.

Selena was amongst those commenting on the claims that her ex "preferred models" and was seemingly disappointed with the clip.

The Mirror has contacted Justin's representatives for a comment.

It was only earlier this year that Selena uploaded her own TikTok video, slamming people who negatively commented about her weight.

"So I be trying to stay skinny, but I went to Jack in the Box and I got four tacos, three egg rolls, onion rings and a spicy chicken sandwich," she says in one clip.

She added: "But honestly, I don't care about my weight because people b***h about it anyway. 'You're too small. You're too big. That doesn't fit. Meh meh meh meh.

"B***h, I am perfect the way I am. Moral of the story? Bye."

Back in 2019 Selena opened up about her battle with lupus and how it was affecting her.

"The medication I have to take for the rest of my life," she told the Giving Back Generation podcast.

"So for me, I really noticed when people started attacking me for that. And in reality, that’s just my truth. I fluctuate. It depends what’s happening in my life," she added.

Only recently she detailed her battle with anxiety and depression over the past six years – and is now hoping her candid new documentary will help other people speak out.

Explaining why she decided to lay bare her struggles and tumultuous relationship with fame in Selena Gomez : My Mind & Me, the singer says she wanted to educate young people about the importance of prioritising their mental health.

She said: "I think someone actually asked me if I felt like I did too much. And I'm not going to lie, maybe there were a few moments that were scary to offer up.

"But at the same time, if you take anything away from this, I hope people understand my purpose here is supposed to be connection.

"I used myself as a sacrifice in order for people to have the hard conversations. But I'm also going to crawl in a hole now for a few months, so nobody sees me for a while. I did too much."
