In a show of support for World Mental Health Day, pop star Selena Gomez has shared her personal journey with a trailer for her new documentary, Selena Gomez: My Mind & Me.

Directed and produced by Alek Keshishian, who’s famous for Madonna: Truth or Dare, which was also produced by Apple TV+, the documentary spans six years in the singer-actress’s life.

In a segment that shows footage of her receiving her lupus diagnosis, as well as claims that she suffered a nervous breakdown, Gomez says: “I’m going to stop living like this.”

The star has been candid about her mental-health struggles in the past, revealing in 2020 that she had a bipolar disorder diagnosis.

Speaking on Miley Cyrus’s Instagram Live talk show Bright Minded, she said: “Recently, I went to one of the best mental hospitals in the world, but definitely in America, McLean’s Hospital, and I discussed that, after years of going through a lot of different things, I realised that I was bipolar.

She added: “And so, when I got to know more information, it actually helps me. It doesn’t scare me once I know it. And I think people get scared of that, right?”

The star, who has worked since she was 10 years old, has lived most of her life in the spotlight, which has taken a toll.

In a tearful clip from My Mind & Me, she says: “My whole life, since I was a kid, I’ve been working.

She added: “I don’t want to be, like, super famous, but I do know that, if I’m here, I have to use that for good.”

Here’s everything you need to know.
