Selena Gomez gives health update after fans spot her shaky hands in makeup tutorial

Selena Gomez has opened up to fans about her health after concern was raised when she shared a video with her hands appearing to shake.

After the actress and singer posted a makeup tutorial video to social media, she was met by comments from fans who had noticed her unsteady hands in the clip.

Selena was giving tips in a TikTok video where she talked followers through her makeup and skincare routine.

At one point in the video, the 30-year-old tried to apply micellar water to a sponge but her hands were shaky.

She told concerned followers that it was down to a side effect from her lupus medication.

"Lol I shake because of my medication for lupus," she wrote in the comments of a now deleted clip a fellow TikTok user posted.

"Also read my disclaimer. I ain't no pro [laughing face emoji]."

The Only Murders in the Building star was diagnosed with lupus in 2014.

In some cases it can cause hair loss, mouth sores, high temperature and sensitivity to light.

There's no cure, but symptoms can be managed with medication.

Inflammation of the heart, lungs, skin, joint and kidneys can also be a result of lupus.

Selena had a kidney transplant in 2017 after hers began shutting down.

Her kidney donor was her friend and fellow actress Francia Raisa, however the two had a fall out last year off the back of Selena's new documentary My Mind and Me.

In an interview with Rolling Stone, she said that Taylor Swift was her only friend in Hollywood.

"I never fit in with a cool group of girls that were celebrities,” she said.

“My only friend in the industry really is Taylor [Swift], so I remember feeling like I didn’t belong. I felt the presence of everyone around me living full lives.

"I had this position, and I was really happy, but … was I? Do these materialistic things make me happy? [I realized] I just didn’t like who I was, because I didn’t know who I was.”

E News shared a snippet of the interview on their Instagram with the caption: "This friendship? It comes naturally."

Francia left a comment that simply read: "Interesting".

Selena responded: "Sorry I didn't mention every person I know.”

Before this, the last time the pair had a public exchange, Selena thanked Raisa for her help.

"Thank you for blessing me. I am forever grateful to you,” she wrote in March 2021.

Speaking about the transplant on the Today Show in October 2017, she said: "She lived with me in this interesting time where my kidneys were just done,” Gomez said.

“That was it. I didn’t want to ask a single person in my life. The thought of asking somebody to do that was really difficult for me.

"She volunteered and did it—and let alone somebody wanting to volunteer, it is incredibly difficult to find a match. The fact that she was a match, I mean, that’s unbelievable. That’s not real.”
