Only Murders In The Building star Selena Gomez has fired back at online trolls in a now-deleted TikTok post after she copped a number of body-shaming comments.
It’s 2024, y’all. Can we like not?
Last week, the 32-year-old Hollywood star attended the premiere of Emilia Pérez at the American French Film Festival in Los Angeles.
At the premiere, the Rare beauty founder dawned a gorgeous long sleeve black dress that featured a high slit.
Although she looked immaculate on the red carpet — as per usual — some trolls believed she was trying to hide her body as she posed with her hand over her stomach.
In the since-deleted TikTok, Gomez clapped back at the comments, saying that their remarks “makes [her] sick”.
“I have [SIBO] in my small intestine,” Gomez wrote.
SIBO, or small intestinal bacterial overgrowth, can be identified as an “abnormal increase in the overall bacterial population in the small intestine” and occurs when the passage of food and waste products is slowed down.
As a result, it could lead to abdominal pain, nausea and bloating.

“It flares up. I don’t care that I don’t look like a sick figure,” she continued.
“I don’t have that body. End of story.
“No I am NOT a victim. I’m just human.”
This isn’t the first time that Gomez has opened up about how her health has impacted her body.
In early 2023, Gomez took to TikTok Live to respond to body shamers who commented on her weight gain, revealing it was a side-effect of her lupus medication, a disease she was diagnosed with in 2013.

“I tend to hold a lot of water weight and that happens very normally. And then when I’m off of it I tend to lose weight,” she said.
“I just want people to know that you’re beautiful and you’re wonderful and yeah, we have days where maybe we feel like shit.
“I would much rather be healthy and take care of myself and my medications are important, and I believe they are what helps me.
“So yeah, not a model — never will be. And I think they’re awesome, mind you, but I’m just definitely not that.”
I understand that being a public figure comes with comments from the public. However, I cannot help but feel terrible for Gomez who’s been copping comments about her body for yonks.
Diabolical work from the haters, especially since we know these kinds of comments impact mental health.
