Selena Gomez has shut down body-shaming comments from trolls on Saturday after appearing at the 2023 Golden Globes.
The 30-year-old actor was nominated at the highly anticipated award show for Best Television Actress - Musical/Comedy Series for her series Only Murders In The Building, but lost to Quinta Brunson in Abbott Elementary.
The Rare singer looked stunning in a wine plunging Valentino gown with matching silk puff sleeves and a matching train, which showcased her long pins thanks to the dress’s thigh-split.
She put her best foot forward on the red carpet in a pair of black strappy heels, while she added a hint of glam with silver drop earrings and opted to skip out on a necklace - in what’s considered to be the statement of the year.
But despite looking absolutely gorgeous in the gown on the red carpet and styling her look with a soft makeup palette and curly high ponytail, Selena still felt the need to justify her weight after being subjected to cruel comments from onlookers.
“Selena, it’s okay but if u let ur body fluctuate a lot, then most likely ur body would be similar to ur moms,” one person wrote beneath her Instagram post, while another penned: “Selena time to get in shape.”
Meanwhile, on Twitter one person wrote: “What happened to her face?”, while another troll added: “[She] looks a bit ‘dumpy’ in my opinion.”
“Weight looks good on you babe,” another needlessly added on the social media site.
So, Selena was forced to head to Instagram Live to speak directly to the haters whilst speaking with her adorable nine-year-old sister, Gracie Elliott Teefey.
She said to her followers: “I'm a little bit big right now because I enjoyed myself during the holidays,” before turning her head to Gracie, asking for her opinion, “right?”
After Gracie appeared to nod in agreement, Selena protested: “But we don't care,” before bursting into fits of laughter with her little sister.
