Seiko dedicated to the ocean

With the fifth edition of the Seiko Save The Ocean project, Seiko continues to raise environmental awareness and rehabilitate Thailand's ocean so that local communities can live sustainably.

This year, managing director Hiroyuki Akashi of Seiko (Thailand) joined forces with brand ambassador Sunny Suwanmethanont, managing director Vichet Choochia of Siam Cement (Thung Song), artist Nuttawut Jenmana and local villagers in the Tuk Kae community to create 10 nurseries for marine creatures at Phuket's Sunrise Bay as part of the Fish Home Project.

Artificial coral reefs measuring 10m in length have been erected in Plew Bay, near the Phi Phi Islands, to provide new habitats for marine species. They are made of quality plaster to give a highly complex surface for marine life to root on, allowing nature's balance to be restored sustainably using innovative 3D printing technology that is safe for aquatic species.

A part of the proceeds from the sales of Seiko Prospex watches will be used to fund many annual activities at Racha Islands in Phuket, Kradan Island in Trang, and Tha Len Bay in Krabi.
