After teasing a huge announcement for this week, Sega has announced full details of its Game Gear Micro consoles.
The release of the miniature version of Sega's 1990 handheld console is to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the Japanese company.
At launch, there will be four colour variants of the console in Japan, each costing 4,980 yen (£36).
The console will be available on October 6, but only in Japan.
Each colour variation of the Game Gear Micro will come with four games, which is probably a ploy to encourage collectors to buy them all.
Some of Sega's most iconic games will be included on the Game Gear Mini handheld, from Sonic to Shin Megami Tensei.
The black Game Gear games:
- Sonic the Hedgehog
- Puyo Puyo 2
- Out Run
- Royal Stone
The blue Game Gear games:
- Sonic Chaos
- Gunstar Heroes
- Sylvan Tale
- Baku Baku Animal
The yellow Game Gear games:
- Shining Force Gaiden: Ensei – Jashin no Kuni he
- Shining Force: The Sword of Hajya
- Shining Force Gaiden: Final Conflict
- Nazopuyo Aruru no Ru
The red Game Gear games:
- Revelations: The Demon Slayer
- Shin Megami Tensei Gaiden: Last Bible Special
- The GG Shinobi
- Columns
Sega's Game Gear was released to try and compete with Nintendo's Gameboy, but it never took off.
The Micro can be charged via USB but can also run on two AA batteries.
The screen really is tiny, so you might be wondering how you're supposed to play games on this small a console... Luckily Sega has a solution for you.
Sega is selling a pack which contains all four of these colour variants as well as a mini version of its Big Window magnifying glass accessory.
This gaudy tool will let you see the full picture up close, but the whole pack will set you back 27,255 yen (£200).
The Game Gear Micro consoles are all available to preorder now in Japan individually and will ship on October 6th.
We've reached out to Sega about a UK release date, but this seems like something that is unlikely.
You can pre-order your Sega Game Gear Micro at Amazon Japan, Rakuten and ebten.
