Sega announced that a new Virtua Fighter game, named Virtua Fighter 5 R.E.V.O., is coming to PC via Steam in the future.

The upcoming title is supposedly based on the PlayStation 4's Virtua Fighter 5: Ultimate Showdown. It seems like the latest entry in the franchise will have a variety of new elements to make it more appealing to modern players.

These include rollback netcode, 4K graphics at up to 60 frames per second, and several balance adjustments. There will also be new online modes that will let up to 16 players compete. These include Tournaments and League.

The announcement of Virtua Fighter 5 R.E.V.O. came alongside a new trailer that showcased what fans of the series can expect from the upcoming game. The original Virtua Fighter 5 was released in 2006 in the arcades.

This was followed by ports for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 that arrived to the consoles in 2007. There were also several games in the franchise that were released since then.

All of these culminated in Virtua Fighter 5: Ultimate Showdown for the PlayStation 4 in 2021, according to Eurogamer.

This is not the first time that Virtua Fighter 5: Ultimate Showdown has become playable on PC. This is because Yakuza 6 featured a Virtua Fighter 5 minigame. Another title in the series, Virtua Fighter 2, which is a 2D Mega Drive fighter, is currently available on Steam.

The latest announcement is still a welcome piece of news for fans of the franchise, which has remained somewhat dormant for quite some time now. Work on a new Virtua Fighter game was confirmed earlier this month in an interview with a Sega personnel.

A New Game in the Franchise

The developer for the upcoming Virtua Fighter game is Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio, which was also responsible for titles such as Like a Dragon and Judgment games.

It seems like Virtua Fighter 5 R.E.V.O.'s balance changes will be carried over to Virtua Fighter 5: Ultimate Showdown, Polygon said.

The interview that shared the news about Sega working on a new Virtua Fighter game was with vice president of global transmedia Justin Scarpone.

He casually dropped the title when he was talking about work being done on other classic franchises such as Crazy Taxi and Jet Set Radio.

In Virtua Fighter 5 R.E.V.O., players can experience the bone-crunching martial arts combat that the series is known for. Players will also be able to create their own custom online tournaments to fight against other people, according to Gematsu.
