Seething Lorraine Kelly lashes out at 'patronising' troll in Twitter spat

Lorraine Kelly defended her fans after an online troll called them 'the unemployed and the feckless'.

The TV presenter, who fronts a self-titled show on ITV, fumed at the Twitter user after they came for her viewers.

It all started when Susanna Reid interviewed Prime Minister Boris Johnson and ended the chat by saying that Lorraine was waiting, to which he asked who she was.

The political editor for Daily Mirror then tweeted out: "Boris Johnson ends excellent Susanna Reid interview by asking: 'Who is Lorraine?' and there goes another 1.5 million votes."

Clearly, the troll had something against Lorraine and responded: "The only people who watch Lorraine are the unemployed and the feckless... people like you Pippa and your target audience.

"I think that, far from losing Boris votes, it will probably increase his stock value enormously. Who are these 'celebs' that you fawn over anyway?"

Lorraine caught wind of the 'patronising' tweet and immediately responded.

"You can say what you like about me but don’t dare have a go at my fantastic viewers," she wrote.

"This is beyond patronising."

A troll then lashed out on Twitter (@reallorraine/Twitter)

Fans immediately flocked to the comment section to support the presenter, with some even announcing their jobs.

One user said: "Agree Lorraine. I'm a full time nurse and often watch your show, love you Lorraine."

"I work but just have Loraine in background on my computer and listen when not on phone etc! Love it!" another added.

One fed-up user commented: "Wow as someone unable to work due to disability mental and physical I look forward to Lorraine weekdays How insulting is this person."

"I have watched the interview on that modern device called the internet," another joked. "I suspect Simon hasn't discovered how that works yet."

Lorraine was waiting to bring her show on air earlier today, but with GMB overrunning Susanna was forced to tell the PM that they needed to hand over to the ITV host.

But Johnson claimed to not know who she was, asking: "Who's Lorraine," before looking around, causing Susanna to hit back: "Who's Lorraine? Lorraine's a legend."

He then appeared to mumble while the sound cut off: "Great, fantastic, well I don't want to talk to Lorraine..." as the show then went off the air, and Lorraine began.

Lorraine didn't take the snub to heart and laughed about the incident. She even later defended the PM when people tweeted about it.
