Seema Banu's family welcome gravestone fundraiser as neighbour says young mum loved her kids 'with all her heart'

The nephew of murder victims Seema Banu and her two doting children has told of how erecting a gravestone in their memory is "very important" for their family.

A former neighbour of Seema is currently raising funds to get a headstone made, with the permission of the Banu family, as she recalled how the young mother loved her kids "with all her heart."

Seema, her daughter Asfira, 11, and six-year-old Faizan were strangled to death at their home in Rathfarnham, Dublin at the hands of evil husband and father Sameer Syed in October 2020.

Monster Sameer was not arrested for some weeks after the triple murder and insisted that the bodies be buried in Dublin, against Seema's family's wishes in India.

The mum and kids' grave is in Newcastle Cemetery in North Dublin.

It had laid bare for over two years as Seema's family could not afford to travel over to visit it.

But with the help of gardai some weeks ago, her nephew Kashief Ahmed along with his cousin Suhan Syed were able to come and pray at the graveside before planting flowers on the plot.

One of Seema's neighbours in Rathfarnham has now set up a GoFundMe to raise money to get a gravestone erected in their memory.

And, speaking from India, Kashief told the Irish Mirror: "We were thinking of it. But I couldn't do it on my own. And when we were in Ireland we just discussed and decided.

"It's very important for our family to remember Seema, Asfira and Faizan. And this is another way of doing that."

He also thanked people for their generous donations.

A neighbour hailed the mum and children in the fundraiser description.

She wrote: "Seema, Asfira and Faizan were a beautiful family. Seema doted on her children and loved them with all her heart.

"Asfira was super smart, a great talker, artistic and a real beauty. Faizan was full of energy and had a cute, cheeky smile. He loved to play games and make friends in school.

"They passed away tragically as the victims of domestic abuse in October 2020.

"Now, after the inquest into their deaths has passed, and at their family's request, we would like to erect a fitting gravestone for Seema, Asfira and Faizan.

Over €4,000 had been raised as of last night.

Both Kashief and Vivienne gave evidence at the inquest of Seema, Asfira and Faizan which was held at Dublin District Coroner's Court at the beginning of last month.

It saw footage of thug Sameer boarding a Dublin Bus disguised as a woman as he travelled to the house at Llewellyn Court, Rathfarnham, Dublin to kill his wife and children.

It heard how Sameer "tortured" his wife in countless beatings after they moved to Ireland in December 2018.

Speaking to the Irish Mirror following the inquests, Kashief told how he "couldn't bare" listening to the harrowing evidence.

Sameer, who took his own life in Midlands Prison last year as he was about to stand trial for the triple murder, had admitted to the murder of his wife but denied killing the children.

But the jury established that the family all died by an "unlawful killing."

Kashief told us: "We got to know about how they died. So Seema died before and then the children. So we got to see the evidence too.

"It was really important for us.

"Sameer was a coward and took the easy way out."
