THREE flood warnings are in place in Scotland as Storm Eowyn continues to batter the country.
The warnings – where flooding is deemed imminent – are in place from Ayr to Troon and in East Luce Bay and West Luce Bay South in Dumfries and Galloway.
There are 10 separate flood alerts in place right across the country.
Flood alerts are in place in:
- Argyll and Bute
- Ayrshire and Arran
- Caithness and Sutherland
- Orkney
- Shetland
- Skye and Lochaber
- West Central Scotland
- Wester Ross
- Western Isles
- Dumfries and Galloway
The key difference between a flood alert and warning is that warnings mean flooding is imminent while alerts are an early indication of potential flooding from rivers, the sea and surface water.
If a flood alert is issued for your area, you should remain alert and vigilant and make early preparations for potential flooding.
If you are in an area of a flood warning, immediate action is required and you should take measures to protect yourself and your property.
