Local fans of Killing Eve have a chance to watch its star Jodie Comer making her debut in a new play captured live from London.
The award-winning actress, who plays Villanelle in the hit BBC series, can be seen taking to the stage in one-woman play Prima Facie in a performance being screened at Tyneside Cinema in Newcastle. And the event, starting this weekend, promises to be an opportunity for fans to see a whole new side to Comer who is best known for playing the psychopathic Russian assassin in Killing Eve opposite co-star Sandra Oh as MI6 agent Eve Polastri.
The cat-and-mouse thriller came to a shocking conclusion earlier this year and Comer this time takes on a solo starring role in Prima Facie, an award-winning drama by Suzie Miller, which sees her play a brilliant criminal defence barrister called Tessa who finds herself questioning her view of the legal system when she becomes the victim of an assault.

The UK premiere run of the play, which opened in April at the Harold Pinter Theatre, marks Comer's West End debut and now local audiences have six opportunities this August to see it for themselves. What is described as a solo tour-de-force performance, captured live from the London theatre, can be seen at Tyneside Cinema from this Saturday, August 6.
The National Theatre Live series of screenings will then run there until Thursday, August 11 while a eighth event, on August 17, is already sold out. Tickets are still available for the other dates which include a range of time options at the Tyneside's different screens: the Classic, Electra and Roxy.
Prima Facie can be seen this weekend at 5.20pm on Saturday then at 4.20pm on Sunday. These will be followed by performances at 7.45pm on Monday; 8.30pm on Tuesday; 3.50pm on Wednesday and 3pm on Thursday. To book tickets see here.
Tyneside Cinema currently has a £5 ticket offer available until September but this does not apply to special events such as the Jodie Comer screenings which cost £22.50; with some concessions available.
