See Georgia’s Stetson Bennett and Adonai Mitchell connect for the game-winning TD vs. Ohio State

The No. 4 Ohio State Buckeyes looked poised to upset the No. 1 Georgia Bulldogs in the College Football Playoff semifinal game at the Peach Bowl. They had the lead over the defending national champs for most of the game Saturday night, but quarterback Stetson Bennett and the Bulldogs offense showed up when it mattered most.

Trailing by six points with about less than three minutes left in the game, Georgia quickly marched up the field to the Ohio State 10-yard line. And on 2nd-and-5 with about a minute to go, Bennett connected with wide receiver Adonai Mitchell for a 10-yard touchdown in the back corner of the end zone.

It was a brilliant play for sure, and with the good kick for the extra point, the Bulldogs grabbed a 42-41 lead and held on for the victory — despite leaving ample time for C.J. Stroud and Ohio State to score one more time.

The Buckeyes got into field goal range with less than 30 seconds left, but they couldn’t get it done. With just eight seconds left, Ohio State kicker Noah Ruggles hooked the ball wide, and that was that.

Georgia held on for the one-point win and advanced to the national championship game for the second consecutive season, and the Bulldogs will take on No. 3 TCU, which beat No. 2 Michigan in the first playoff semifinal.
