Utah quarterback Cameron Rising was leading his team toward a game-winning touchdown on a quick drive that began with 1:25 left in the fourth quarter on the road against Florida. Getting to the Gators’ six-yard line with 30 seconds on the clock, No. 7 Utah had plenty of time to tie or win outright.
But on second-and-goal with less than 20 seconds left, Florida linebacker Amari Burney jumped out and grabbed a stunning interception in the end zone, delivering the Gators a 29-26 upset victory Saturday night.
On the previous drive, Florida quarterback Anthony Richardson — who had a dazzling night with 168 passing yards and 104 rushing yards along with three touchdowns on the ground — scored the go-ahead touchdown with a one-yard run to give the Gators a three-point lead.
Leading Utah’s quick response, Rising threw for 41 yards and added a 28-yard run to move up the field. But after an incomplete pass on first-and-goal, he looked to the end zone, and Burney dove for the ball for a thrilling game-winning play.
