One of the greatest defenders ever to suit up in the NFL is hanging up his cleats.
Aaron Donald, who has done it all in his incredible career — from sacking quarterbacks (111 times in the regular season to be exact) to winning defensive player of the year (three times) to making it to All-Pro teams (eight times) to winning a Super Bowl (once) — is retiring.
He announced the surprising news on Friday, although he had hinted in the past that he had been considering it, especially after the Super Bowl win.
Check out his announcement below, with a heartfelt post and a video:
Cheers to what’s next. Extending a big thank you to the Rams and all of the fans for your support over these last 10 years. Much love. 🍾🙏🏽💪🏽 pic.twitter.com/edGxkUYdLz
