'Security!' - Van Dijk and Konate react to controversial Ronaldo incident against Liverpool

Whatever else happens for Liverpool this season, one of the most memorable moments for fans has already unfolded.

The Reds are battling for the Premier League title, the Champions League and the FA Cup, plus have already got the Carabao Cup trophy in their possession.

But it’s one league match in October that may stand out most to supporters when looking back on this campaign.

Liverpool travelled to Old Trafford to take on bitter rivals Manchester United towards the end of October.

Jurgen Klopp’s side came away with a historic 5-0 win, courtesy of goals from Naby Keita, Diogo Jota and a Mohamed Salah hat-trick.

The club have released a video showing Virgil van Dijk and Ibrahima Konate, who started at centre-back that day, giving an alternate commentary of some of the match’s highlights.

One moment that caused controversy at the time was Curtis Jones being on the receiving end of some rough treatment from Cristiano Ronaldo.

When the incident was shown on the highlights, Van Dijk acted professional by saying: “Oh. Oops. Ref? What’s going to happen here” - while Konate burst into laughter.

In the aftermath of Ronaldo's kicks, the Liverpool players came over to confront him which led to other United players joining in.

Watching the players face up to each other, Konate jokes: “Okay, big Virg. Okay, big Ibou.

“Oh my god. What is this security!"

Van Dijk then said: “Relax it, boys. Relax it. It’s part of this game.”

The Dutchman added: “Look, the whole team together here. The Reds. As a team, we backed each other. It was nice to see.”
