Security Presence At Sen. JD Vance's Residence Sparks Speculation

U.S. Senator Vance (R-OH) walks at the U.S. Capitol in Washington

A heightened security presence was observed outside the residence of Sen. JD Vance, R-Ohio, over the weekend, sparking speculation regarding former President Trump's potential pick for vice president.

Reports emerged of an assassination attempt on Trump at a campaign rally on Saturday, where he reportedly sustained a gunshot wound to his right ear. Tragically, one rally attendee lost their life, and several others were injured in the incident. Following this alarming event, black trucks and police vehicles were spotted outside Vance's residence, as he remains among the top three candidates on Trump's shortlist for vice president.

A spokesperson for Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine clarified that he authorized the security presence at Vance's residence on Saturday. Sources indicated that the security detail did not involve the Secret Service but rather state law enforcement personnel.

Vance, alongside Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Fla., and Gov. Doug Burgum, R-S.D., are currently positioned at the forefront of Trump's potential vice-presidential candidates. Senior GOP officials hinted at the possibility of Trump announcing his running mate as early as 1 p.m. ET on Monday, following the commencement of the Republican National Convention (RNC).
