Tragedy struck at a convenience store in Jackson, Mississippi, as a security guard lost his life in a senseless act of violence. The incident occurred in the early hours of Monday morning at M&M Food Express on Cooper Road.
The victim, identified as Roy Love, aged 60, was on duty when he encountered three teenagers on the premises. Love approached the teenagers and requested them to leave the store. Unfortunately, the situation escalated quickly as the teenagers attacked Love, resulting in a fatal shooting.
According to Jackson Police Chief Joseph Wade, the teenagers, aged 16 and 17, were charged with capital murder in connection with the incident. The motive behind the attack was revealed to be an attempt to steal Love's firearm. The teenagers, who were already in possession of a gun, managed to overpower Love and use his own weapon against him.
Surveillance footage of the incident indicated that Love never drew his gun during the confrontation. Following the shooting, two of the teenagers fled the scene on foot, while the third escaped on a bicycle. However, law enforcement acted swiftly and apprehended all three suspects within hours of the tragic event.
