South Central Railway (SCR) has announced the successful completion and commissioning of the Secunderabad-Mahabubnagar doubling and electrification project on Wednesday.
Doubling of the last stretch between Gollapalli-Divitipalli for a distance of 10 km and electrification in the last stretch of 25 km between Gollapalli-Mahabubnagar has also been completed.
The doubling of this crucial section will enhance the rail connectivity between Hyderabad and other major cities located towards southern region such as Kurnool, Anantapur, Kadapa, Bengaluru, Tirupati etc., said a press release.
The project executed by the Railway PSU, Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL) was sanctioned for a distance of 85 km in 2015-16 at an estimated cost of ₹774 crore. The section between Secunderabad-Umdanagar for a distance of 28 km has already been completed as part of MMTS Phase I and II.
General Manager Sanjeev Kishore congratulated SCR officials and staff along with RVNL officials on successful completion of the project in short and stipulated time, said an official spokesman.
