Secret Lives of Mormon Wives star Jen Affleck has thrown us a curveball that has fans surprised. Amidst a whirlwind of divorce rumours and social media silence, Jen’s emerged from the shadows with some jaw-dropping news: she’s preggers with baby number three!
For those of you who touch grass, Jen Affleck burst onto our screens in Hulu’s hit reality series The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives. The show, which premiered in September 2024, follows a group of Utah-based TikTok influencers known as “MomTok” as they navigate the complexities of their personal and professional lives. Jen, who was cast as a “saint” (as opposed to a “sinner”) on the show, quickly became a fan favourite.
However, it wasn’t all smooth sailing for Jen and her husband Zac on the show. Their relationship became a major focal point, with other cast members hinting at Zac’s controlling nature throughout the series. Things came to a head during a trip to Las Vegas when Jen unknowingly went to Chippendales with her gang of girlfriends.
The incident led to a major argument between Jen and Zac, with Jen later saying, “Zac’s making me feel like I did do something, like I cheated on him or something. I clearly didn’t do anything, and he knows my heart and my intention.”
The drama didn’t stop there. Jen’s social media activity (or lack thereof) in recent months had fans speculating about the state of her marriage. Her lack of posting from November last year caused people to worry and speculate about what was going on with the biggest theory being divorce.
But hold onto your gigantic sodas, people, because it turns out there was a much more exciting reason for Jen’s social media silence. In a chat with PEOPLE magazine, Jen spilled the tea on her surprise bun in the oven. “While it was a surprise, we both had a feeling there was another baby waiting for us,” she confessed.
Jen also opened up about the challenges she’s faced during this pregnancy, especially in light of the show’s success. “The first trimester was really challenging mentally and physically; I experienced all the symptoms — nausea, vomiting, fatigue, and mood swings. It’s definitely been chaotic, no doubt about it,” she shared.
But it’s not just the physical symptoms that have been tough. Jen admitted that the scrutiny from the show has taken its toll. “Season one took a toll, not only on my marriage but also on my mental health,” she revealed.
“There were many dark days. There’s so much more to our story than people realise.”
She added, “While I’m not sharing all the details online, it’s been essential for our relationship and mental health to keep our journey private until we’re ready to talk about it.”
Despite the ups and downs, Jen’s keeping her chin up. “This journey has profoundly changed me and shaped the person, mother, and friend I aspire to be,” she mused.
So, there you have it. Jen and Zac are still together, baby number three is on the way, and we’re all left wondering what other surprises The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives has in store for us. With season two set to drop in May, it looks like we’ll be getting a front-row seat to Jen’s pregnancy journey and I for one am sat!
