Second murder charge over rural Tas death

A second person has been charged with murder following the death of a man in northwest Tasmania. (AAP)

An 18-year-old woman has become the second person charged with murder over the death of a man at a rural property in northwest Tasmania.

The body of the 59-year-old was discovered next to a burning car in the small town of Sprent on the night of January 23.

Dane Ronald Pyke has been charged with murder but has yet to enter a plea in court.

He is also accused of aggravated burglary and unlawfully setting fire to property.

Tasmania Police on Wednesday revealed they had charged a woman from the west coast town of Queenstown with murder.

She has also been accused of common assault, breach of bail and failing to appear in relation to a warrant.

She is expected to appear in Devonport Magistrates Court on Wednesday.
