A second man has been charged over the alleged assassination of an underworld figure in a popular inner-city precinct.
Mohammed Akbar Keshtiar, 53, was gunned down in a drive-by shooting in a laneway off Melbourne's Chapel Street in South Yarra on August 4, 2023.
Mr Keshtiar and his associate were walking on Almeida Crescent after a gym session when a stolen grey Prado approached and a passenger fired shots in their direction, police allege.
He was allegedly laying hit on the ground when a person in dark clothing got out of the car and fired several more rounds.
Passers-by attempted to help Mr Keshtiar, a Mongol bikie also known as Afghan Ali, but he died in hospital.
His associate was not hurt and fled the scene.

The allegedly stolen car made a quick getaway and was later found on fire at Endeavour Hills in the city's outer southeast.
Narre Warren man Adris Kheyali, 23, was arrested in early April and charged with murder and conduct endangering life.
Another man, a 25-year-old from Hampton Park, was was charged with murder and conduct endangering life after facing questioning on Tuesday.
Police said the second man was in custody on unrelated matters and will face Melbourne Magistrates Court on Wednesday.
Kheyali will next face the court in August.
At the time of the shooting, homicide squad detective inspector Dean Thomas described it as a "deliberate, planned and organised assassination".
He said Mr Keshtiar was linked to a number of outlaw motorcycle gangs and associated with Middle Eastern organised crime groups.
A $1 million reward was offered in September for information to help solve the cold-case murder.
