The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) is launching SEC Open Data Services, a comprehensive data centre to promote the public use of open data for development and innovation.
The data centre provides information on business operators and products in the capital and digital asset markets including equities, debentures, mutual funds and digital assets.
The centre includes an investor overview function.
Ruenvadee Suwanmongkol, secretary-general of the SEC, said the commission aims to promote an "open and connected government" by supporting full disclosure of information between departments to meet the public demand for open data sources and promote data-driven decision making and development.
She said SEC Open Data Services will allow every stakeholder, including educational institutions, researchers, system developers, business operators and investors, to easily access information.
Key features include visualisation of important figures and statistics.
All information will be machine-readable and presented in a ready-to-use format, including data tables for research analysis and application programming interfaces for developers, said Ms Ruenvadee.
Other highlights include a keyword search for graphs and statistics as well as a single window that allows users to access information regarding equity, debt instruments, funds, and digital assets on one page. The page includes information regarding investors categorised by age groups and types of investment.
For investors to carry out proper research, the page provides links to other information sources such as new investment products' prospectuses, relevant agency websites, and government information centres.
The site also has a direct link to SEC Check First, showing which investment products are permitted by the SEC.
SEC Open Data Services is available on the SEC website or via the link www.sec.or.th/secopendata.
