Sebastien Haller reveals what Erik ten Hag told Ajax players after Manchester United appointment

Ajax striker Sebastien Haller has revealed what Erik ten Hag told the club’s players after he was confirmed as Manchester United’s new manager.

Ten Hag’s appointment was confirmed on Thursday, with the 52-year-old set to make the move to Old Trafford at the end of the season. He becomes the second Dutchman to manage United, following on from Louis van Gaal.

Ten Hag will have a huge job on his hands when he does arrive at United, with a major rebuild in the offing after what has been a dismal season. Before that, he still has the matter of a title to secure with his current club.

Having been beaten in the Dutch Cup final by PSV Eindhoven last weekend, Ten Hag now has five games in which to hold off their rivals in the race for the Eredivisie crown. They look well set to do so, holding a four-point lead over PSV as Ten Hag looks set to leave on a high. And Haller, who has flourished under Ten Hag after flopping at West Ham, has backed his manager to succeed in the Premier League with United.

“What he’s like is like just working with a professional,” Haller told Sky Sports. “Someone really professional and into his job. Nothing is by random, he’s ready for every situation, so he’ll give safety to the players.”

Asked what Ten Hag had told the Ajax players, Haller replied: “He’s just said he’s going to move. It’s professional now, so we need to finish the season, he’s aware of that and really focused on this goal for us, and then he has time to speak about his next move.

“A top coach is always good for the Premier League, but nothing is easy to say. It depends how it will go and how much confidence he will have, and the freedom he will have as well.”
