SeaWorld's Ice Breaker roller coaster debuts Feb. 18 in Orlando

ORLANDO, Fla. — SeaWorld Orlando says its Ice Breaker roller coaster will open to the public on Feb. 18.

The thrill ride, near the theme park’s Wild Arctic attraction and between Shamu Stadium and Bayside Stadium, has been on hold for months as the pandemic continued to affect the tourism business. Previously, SeaWorld had said Ice Breaker would debut sometime in February.

SeaWorld will hold annual passholder previews between Jan. 30 and Feb. 15, park officials said. An email to passholders indicated that days will be designated by levels of annual passes and the previews will go from noon to 4 p.m.

The attraction includes a reverse launch “into the steepest beyond-vertical drop in Florida,” the park says, as well as a near-vertical tophat maneuver and four launches with airtime.

It will be SeaWorld Orlando’s first new coaster since the debut of Mako in 2016. The latest roller coaster to join the lineup in Orlando was Jurassic World VelociCoaster, which opened at Universal’s Islands of Adventure last summer.
