'Season over' - Tottenham supporters make gloomy prediction after Rodrigo Bentancur injury blow

Tottenham suffered another injury blow this weekend with confirmation that Rodrigo Bentancur had sustained an ACL injury in the defeat to Leicester City.

The midfielder was involved in a clash with Nampalys Mendy and immediately fell to the ground in severe pain. Spurs' medical staff were quick to treat the Uruguayan before he managed to limp off at the King Power Stadium.

A statement on the club website read: "We can confirm that Rodrigo Bentancur has ruptured the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee and will be out of action for the remainder of the campaign.

"The midfielder will undergo surgery before beginning his rehabilitation with our medical staff."

Bentancur's injury has placed severe doubts amongst Spurs supporters over the short-term future of the club as they aim to secure Champions League qualification. Here is what some of them have had to say...

@JaiP72: This is such awful news for everyone. Wishing Rodrigo the best in his recovery but he's the heartbeat of the team.

@Tharun_04: That's our season done.

@ashtonkemp: That's the season over then.

@sjpinchin: heartbreak.

@theshirtsearch: Brb crying.

@Losgrantos: We are not allowed nice things. Probably our best player this season.

@shropshire_spur: Up there with Kane as one of most important players. Awful news, and a long road to recovery ahead. Get well soon Rodrigo, and come back stronger. You will be sorely missed!

@gw_thfc: Hard to take. Most consistent player in the team. Midfield isn't the same without him.
