This Avalon III blanket is still available from Hermès
(Picture: Hermès)Google searches for “Hermès blanket" have surged since the throw blanket was shown in the trailer for the new docuseries Harry and Meghan, starring Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.
According to Women's Wear Daily, the blanket depicted in the video is by Hermès, the high-end clothing brand introduced in 1988. The name of the blanket is the Avalon, but it is sold out in the UK.
The outlet also notes that, after the release of the trailer, searches for ”Hermès blanket” and ”Hermès blanket price” on Google increased by 500 per cent and 850 per cent, respectively.
The extravagant $1,625 (£1,260) blanket from Hermès is made up of 90 per cent merino wool and 10 per cent cashmere.
While a sobbing Meghan sits in a chair with her head in her hands in the trailer, Prince Harry is heard implying that there were “planted” stories against her. A throw blanket in beige and white with the word “H” woven into it is draped over the back of the chair.
The Avalon style has also taken centre stage previously, having been featured in an episode of Sex and the City.
It has been released in a number of variations through the years, and everyone from Courteney Cox to Hilary Duff and Lindsay Lohan owns the blanket.
The luxury fashion brand is also selling a similar blanket, called the “Avalon III Throw Blanket” for £1,260, the “Avalon Spring Blanket” for £2,730, and an “Avalon Pillow”, which matches the blanket owned by Harry and Meghan, for £740.
The much-awaited Netflix series debuted today (December 8) and three more episodes will follow on December 15 — the same day the royal family will celebrate the holiday season with a Christmas carol concert at Westminster Abbey in honor of Queen Elizabeth II.
