Search underway for missing pensioner who vanished after boarding train to Edinburgh

A frantic search has been launched to trace a missing pensioner who vanished after boarding a train bound for Edinburgh.

The last sighting of Thomas Marshall was at 4pm yesterday at Airdrie Train Station in Lanarkshire. The 67-year-old made his way towards the capital, but cops believe he could have travelled anywhere in the country.

Thomas is described as white, 5ft 10, of a medium build and is bald. At the time of his disappearance, he was wearing a grey hat, a pink jumper, a black body warmer and blue Fila trainers.

He is known to use the assistance of two crutches.

Sergeant Stewart McDonald, Airdrie Police Station, said: “Thomas uses public transport extensively so could have travelled anywhere in the country. He has no mobile phone with him and his family are concerned about him. If you have any information as to his whereabouts, then please call Police Scotland."

Those with information on Thomas' whereabouts can contact Police Scotland via 101 quoting reference number 3905 of Monday, 11 July, 2022.
