Gardai in Limerick seized cannabis, cocaine, and cash in Limerick after an organised operation was carried out this afternoon.
According to a garda spokesperson, the drugs and cash that were found at a residence are worth thousands, and two men have been arrested.
A statement read: “Gardaí in Limerick have seized approximately €71,000 worth of suspected drugs and arrested two men following a search operation today, Saturday 1st October 2022.”
Gardai, aided by the Regional Armed Support Unit the Divisional Drugs Unit and the Community Engagement Unit searched a number of residences amid the planned operation.
“This morning, Gardaí attached to Henry Street conducted a search operation at a number of residences in Limerick,” the statement confirmed.
“Assistance was provided by the Regional Armed Support Unit the Divisional Drugs Unit and the Community Engagement Unit.
“During the search of one such residence, cannabis herb with an estimated street value of €30,000 was seized as well as €1,250 in cash.”
A man in his 30 was arrested at the scene and was taken to Henry Street Garda Station where he remains for questioning.
During a second search this afternoon, gardaí also seized cannabis herb valued at around €40,000 and cocaine valued at approximately €1,000 during the search of a separate residence.
A second man, aged in his 30s, was arrested and taken to Henry Street Garda Station where he is currently detained under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act, 1996.
All drugs will be sent for analysis and investigations are ongoing.
