Search for missing relatives leads families of Kumbh stampede victims to mortuary

Outside the mortuary at Prayagraj’s Swarup Rani Nehru Hospital, relatives of the pilgrims who died in a stampede at the Mahakumbh on January 29 still await the bodies of their loved ones. Heavy with grief, their sorrowful eyes speak volumes of the poor management at the gathering that led to the tragedy.

More than 24 hours later, family members of persons who went missing after the mishap are still looking for clues about the whereabouts of their kin. Having received no information from the lost and found centres, many of them have now turned to the mortuary in search of any detail that can lead them to their missing relatives.

Watch this ground report to see how the stampede has wreaked havoc in the lives of many pilgrims who attended the religious gathering.
