A search has resumed for a 21-year-old man who went missing at a beach north of Noosa on Queensland's Sunshine Coast on Saturday afternoon.
The man was swimming at Teewah Beach about 5pm when he was swept away.
Police and surf lifesavers launched a large-scale search for the man, which continued until 8pm.
The search resumed at first light today and will continue with a large-scale water search, and both PolAir and community helicopters.
Teewah Beach is a popular spot for campers but the beaches in the area are unpatrolled.
In December 2020 two men in their 30s drowned in a rip after trying to save a child who was swept up in the current.
"If you must swim at remote location, stay close to the beach and remain waist-deep," SLSQ regional operations manager Aaron Purchase said at the time.
"However, the safest place to swim remains at a patrolled location between the red and yellow flags."
