A search is continuing for a swimmer missing since Friday night in water at Gunnamatta Ocean Beach, on Victoria's Mornington Peninsula.
The 20-year-old man from North Melbourne got into trouble while swimming 40 to 60 metres from shore at the notoriously dangerous beach south-east of Melbourne.
He was swimming with his 16-year-old brother who was rescued by the pair's father when he too got into difficulty.
The father and younger son were rescued and taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries, but the 20-year-old could not be found.
On Saturday, water police, helicopters, SES crews and Life Saving Victoria searched unsuccessfully for the man.
Victoria has recorded six drownings since the start of the summer holiday period, including four in the space of three days after Christmas.
Lifesavers have urged anyone swimming at a beach to check the beach's safety rating on the BeachSafe website.
Gunnamatta Beach is rated as a "highly hazardous" swimming spot which usually has strong rips close to shore.
The incident occurred on the ocean side of the Mornington Peninsula, roughly 12 kilometres from where several teenage paddle boarders were swept across Port Phillip Bay in December.
