Henry Cejudo came one round from one judge shy of recapturing the bantamweight title Saturday, but in the end he couldn’t didn’t get the nod and came up short of claiming gold from Aljamain Sterling in the UFC 288 headliner.
Cejudo (16-3 MMA, 10-3 UFC), a former two-division UFC titleholder, saw his comeback from a three-year retirement spoiled when he suffered a split decision loss to Sterling (23-3 MMA, 15-3 UFC) in their main event showdown at Prudential Center in Newark, N.J. It was a tough pill to swallow for “Triple C,” who expressed uncertainty about his future in the aftermath of the event.
