The Cincinnati Bengals have one of the fastest-growing fanbases in the NFL as the bandwagon fills up with four teams left ahead of championship weekend.
One of those fans happens to be former New Orleans Saints head coach Sean Payton.
Payton, who announced he was stepping down as coach of the Saints on Tuesday, held a presser and said he’s 100 percent rooting for the Bengals. He named former Saints players like Trey Hendrickson, Vonn Bell and Eli Apple as reasons for throwing his support behind the Bengals.
The whole Joe Burrow — LSU thing probably doesn’t hurt, either.
The moment was a fun one:

Payton also weighed in on something that interests both Bengals and Saints fans quite a bit — the Who Dey vs. Who Dat debate.
Let Payton tell it, the Bengals swiped that one from the Saints:

Technically speaking, the Bengals started the “Who Dey” chant during the 1980 season and the Saints picked up “Who Dat” a few years later. But “Who Dat stems from the ’60s in New Orleans, so the Saints were probably taking from local lingo more than stealing from the Bengals.
So that makes Payton…somewhat correct? Either way, he’s rooting for the Bengals, as are many.
