Sean McVay shares what he’s telling the Rams entering final week of tough season

The Los Angeles Rams’ disappointing 2022 season will come to an end on Sunday afternoon when they visit the Seattle Seahawks, concluding a campaign that no one saw coming for Sean McVay’s team. At 5-11, the Rams have already lost the most games ever by a defending Super Bowl champion, but they can still play spoiler by eliminating the Seahawks from postseason contention, while simultaneously ending the season on a high note.

McVay loves the way his players have continued to compete despite falling way short of expectations as a team, and he’s hoping they can finish with a win. Here’s what he’s telling Rams players as they prepare for their final game of the season.

“Yeah, I think what you do is you continue to compete to the best of your ability. Let’s try to have a good week of preparation and see if we can put together a good plan, a good week of prep, and go play the best that we’re capable of against Seattle,” he said Monday. “And obviously if you’re able to finish on a good positive note, that would be reflective of the resilience and just kind of the character of this football team. But one of the things I’m proud of is in spite of everything that we’ve been through, these guys continue to compete, they continue to show up day in and day out and that’s made what’s been an incredibly challenging year for me a lot easier because of the resilience that they’ve demonstrated. I’ll forever be grateful for this group. Sometimes the best learning lessons can come in these types of seasons that we’ve never been through and you learn a lot about like I’ve said over and over again, yourself and the people that you’re around. And I’ve learned a lot of really good things about these players.”

The Rams are once again big underdogs this week, so they’ll need to pull off an upset in order to take down their division rivals. Los Angeles already stunned the Raiders and Broncos in the last month, so this team is more than capable of putting together a good showing, but it’ll be a challenge against the Seahawks, who are fighting for their playoff lives.
