Tyler Higbee has been back at practice with the Los Angeles Rams for the last three weeks, but he hasn’t yet made his long-awaited season debut after tearing his ACL and MCL in January’s playoff game.
Well, that highly anticipated return is approaching.
Sean McVay told reporters on Friday that the Rams expect Higbee to be active against the New York Jets next Sunday for their Week 16 game at MetLife Stadium. Higbee hasn’t played since injuring his knee against the Lions 11 months ago, but he’s ready to get back on the field.
The Rams still need to activate him and add him to the 53-man roster, but that’s expected to be done at some point before next week’s game.
Sean McVay said the plan is for TE Tyler Higbee to be active against the Jets.
Haven’t officially activated him yet, but they expect to (barring unforeseen obstacles) given progress Higbee has made

Higbee has been a cog in the Rams offense since he became a full-time starter in 2017, which was just his second season. He’s played 125 games and made 116 starts in his career, logging 353 total catches, 3,602 yards and 22 touchdowns.
Rams tight ends only have one touchdown combined this season, which was by Colby Parkinson against the Patriots, so it’s been a little bit of a struggle at that position in 2024.
It’s unclear what Higbee’s role will be or how much he’ll play initially, but no one should be surprised if he’s the TE1 right away.
