Rams head coach Sean McVay’s wife is due to give birth “any day now,” which puts McVay’s availability for games in jeopardy. If his wife goes into labor on a game day, McVay will miss the game to be there for the birth of his first child.
However, the head coach told reporters on Wednesday that he is not concerned about missing any games. McVay, who will soon be the father of a boy, said he is confident that his son will allow him to coach on Sundays.
“I think there was a lot made about me missing a game, I’m not gonna miss a game,” McVay said. “My son knows better than to come during a game.”
The Rams host the Steelers in Los Angeles on Sunday, followed by road games against the Cowboys and Packers. The team doesn’t have a bye until Week 10, which might be too late for his wife’s birth schedule.

McVay already explained earlier in the year that if he does have to miss a game, defensive coordinator Raheem Morris and offensive coordinator Mike LaFleur will help fill in for him while he’s away. Los Angeles is 3-3 on the season, already halfway to surpassing their win total from last year.
