Lions or Vikings, Sean McVay doesn’t care. The coach doubled down on his stance that it makes no difference to him who the Rams play in the wild-card round next weekend – something he made very clear last week when discussing Los Angeles’ possible playoff opponents.
After Sunday’s loss to the Seahawks, the Rams ensured that they’ll face either the Vikings or Lions in the first round of the postseason. And McVay isn’t afraid of them whatsoever despite both having 14 wins in their first 16 games.
“No, I don’t. I really don’t,” McVay said of whether he cares who the Rams play. “You know what’s at stake and you have tremendous respect, but I’m excited about seeing who that is and we’re going to dive into it and we’re going to go for it with no fear.”
McVay has full and unwavering confidence in his team that they can beat anyone in the NFL. After all they did beat the Vikings once already and they took the Lions to overtime in Week 1 when they were without Puka Nacua for half the game and the offensive line was missing several starters.
There’s no fear whatsoever from the Rams head coach, which his players must love to hear.
“You get into the dance, it’s a single-elimination tournament,” he said. “We’re going to go swing, we’re going to shoot our shot. We’re not going to be afraid to do anything other than go for it.”
The Rams will face the loser of the Vikings-Lions game, and fortunately, they’ll be at home in the opening round of the playoffs. That gives the Rams an advantage, especially considering they’ve been home for the last two weeks, too.
