Sean Hastie netted four to help Scone Thistle book their place in round two of the Scottish Junior Cup on Saturday.
The young striker was quick to show off his clinical edge at Farquharson Park, much to the disappointment of visitors New Elgin.
New signing Omar Jassim was also on the scoresheet in the 5-2 success.
“The big man Hastie had a field day and possibly could have added a few more,” said Scone manager Willie Laing.
“This will give him a huge boost to continue his run of form. I would say huge credit to the team as they created the chances for our strikers.
“With Omar getting his first goal, hopefully there are more to come from him.”
On the performance, Laing continued: “The lads played really well in the first half.
“They showed exactly what they can do scoring four goals which should have been more. The football was exciting to watch.
“The second half wasn’t what I expected as we took our foot off the gas and conceded two very sloppy and avoidable goals.
“But we picked our levels up again and got the fifth. We created more chances and really should have scored more.
“We fully deserved the win, outplaying and outworking our opponents with some great football.”
Next up for the Jaggie Nettles in the Scottish Junior Cup will be a second round trip to Livingston United.
“We are looking forward to the away trip and hopefully can produce another great display,” Laing said.
