Sean Dyche shows Frank Lampard truth as Conor Coady continues Everton celebrations

Your evening Everton headlines for Sunday, February 19.

Everton analysis - Sean Dyche shows Frank Lampard truth as red card theory emerges

Back in 2014 when Roberto Martinez still had hair and was steering Everton to their highest-ever Premier League points total while Amadou Onana was not yet a teenager, Seamus Coleman was on his way to plundering a career high seven goals but while time and tide wait for no man and the 34-year-old is no longer as prolific in the opposition half, the player who now captains the Blues showed he is still the man for the big occasion.

It’s been over a year since Coleman last found the net – since Leeds United were last at Goodison Park in fact, when he put his side on their way to a 3-0 win with a fearless diving header – but after drawing a blank in back to back campaigns in which he played 30 plus matches in both in 2019/20 and 2020/21, the skipper has shown once more that he’s not done yet.

Even if he hadn’t had netted his wonder-goal here, Coleman was immense at both ends of the pitch and demonstrated how he’s every inch the modern full-back having revolutionised the position at the club after replacing Tony Hibbert, the man who holds the Everton record among outfield players for the most appearances without scoring (328). In truth, when Coleman found himself in an advanced position before his goal he was Everton’s furthest player forward and had no options to pick out in the box so after having a look up, he was well within his rights to have a shot.

After all, you can’t win the lottery without buying a ticket. The Blues will be grateful to have the luck of the Irish here although while the nature of their winning goal was somewhat unorthodox, they were well worth the victory in the end.

Conor Coady continues Everton celebrations with 30th birthday party at Liverpool hotel

Everton defender Conor Coady carried on the celebrations from the Blues' important 1-0 win over Leeds United at a party for his 30th birthday.

The on-loan defender, who reaches the milestone birthday on February 25, featured for Sean Dyche's side yesterday as they picked up their second win of the 51-year-old's era.

Seamus Coleman fired home from a tight angle past a bewildered Illan Meslier, which proved to be the game's only goal.

Defeat for the Whites saw them slip into the relegation zone as Everton moved away from the bottom three ahead of the visit of Aston Villa next weekend.

Coady's Saturday wasn't finished there after 90 minutes in front of a jubilant Goodison Park crowd though, as he later joined his family and friends at the Titanic Hotel.

The famous hotel placed within the Liverpool docks on Regent Road is close to the new Everton stadium, built across the road on Bramley-Moore Dock.
